What is the perfect dog breed for a laid back writer?

i'm looking for a small or medium dog breed who just likes to relax and sit with me as i write or read, but will be willing to go on walks and travel. I'm not really up for an extremely energetic pet, and one that particularly doesn't shed much if its possible lol. any Information i could get would be great
