Puppy will not stop biting?

My puppy will not stop biting me! I have tried a lot of different methods but I am at my wits ends. I am covered in welts and bruises and he lunges and snaps at my face makes me worried he might seriously hurt me sometime. I do my best to tire him out but there is always a period (usualy at night) where he goes into these huge biting rages. I have tried distracting him with toys (dosnt work), holding him down (dosnt work), closing his mouth (dosnt work) nothing seems to and it really hurts and frustrates me...
