If a mosquito is biting you . . .?

Should you kill it immediately or let it finish and leave? I killed a couple of mosquitoes mid-bite, and the welts they left are massive. If you kill a mosquito while it's drawing blood, does some extra venom, or its proboscis, stay in you?
